Established in 1887 and virtually unchanged since, Neary's is a UNESCO City of Literature bar whose rear entrance sits directly opposite the Gaiety Theatre stage door — actors, playwrights and writers have been slipping in for over 150 years. It features four working indoor gas lamps (among the last in Ireland), staff in bow-ties, a marble bar counter, and absolutely no television or music.
