A public house on this site since 1772, Whelan's became Dublin's premier live music venue in 1989 under Gary Whelan and Ian Keith. The main room (450 standing) has hosted Jeff Buckley, Arctic Monkeys, Damien Rice, and Ed Sheeran, while an upstairs venue runs comedy, silent disco, and club nights seven days a week. The front bar is open daily from 5pm without tickets.
