About this site

The Irish Pub (theirishpub.ie) is an independent, editorially driven pub guide covering Ireland. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Diageo, Guinness Storehouse, Fáilte Ireland, Tourism Ireland, or any pub, brewery, or hospitality group listed on this site unless explicitly stated.

The site is operated as a private venture. Our goal is to provide honest, community-sourced information about Irish pubs — opening hours, session nights, facilities, and the quality of the pint.

How information is gathered

Pub listings on The Irish Pub are compiled from a combination of sources:

  • Editorial research — our team visits pubs in person and records information directly.
  • Publicly available records — opening hours, addresses, phone numbers, and websites drawn from a pub's own website, social media pages, and listings on platforms such as Google Maps, Facebook, and Yelp.
  • User submissions — tips, corrections, and session listings submitted via our contact form. Submissions are reviewed before publication but are not independently verified in every case.
  • Community ratings — scores (including the Guinness quality rating) are submitted by registered users. Each rating is associated with a verified account but is otherwise anonymous.
  • Pub owners & publicans — some listings have been claimed or corrected directly by the pub operator. Claimed listings are noted where applicable.

We do not scrape third-party review platforms in bulk, and we do not reproduce reviews from Google, TripAdvisor, or similar services.

Accuracy & currency of listings

Opening hours, session nights, food service, and facilities change frequently. While we make reasonable efforts to keep listings current, we cannot guarantee that every piece of information on this site is accurate or up to date at the time you read it.

We strongly recommend confirming details — particularly opening hours, session times, and kitchen hours — directly with the pub before you make a trip, especially on public holidays and around major events.

If you spot something that is incorrect, please use our contact page to let us know. Corrections are reviewed and applied promptly.

Ratings & reviews

Ratings on The Irish Pub — including the Guinness score — are submitted by members of the public who create an account on the platform. They reflect the personal opinion of the reviewer at the time of their visit and do not represent the views of The Irish Pub editorial team.

We do not sell, inflate, or otherwise manipulate ratings. Pubs cannot pay to improve their score. Ratings are averaged across all verified submissions for a given criterion.

We reserve the right to remove ratings that we reasonably believe to be fraudulent, abusive, or submitted in bad faith, without prior notice.

The Guinness quality rating assesses the pint as experienced by the reviewer on a particular visit. It is a subjective measure. Factors such as staff rotation, line cleanliness, and glass temperature can vary visit to visit. A low score on any single review does not necessarily reflect the pub's overall standard.

Commercial relationships

The Irish Pub may display promoted listings or sponsored content. Where a listing is paid for or commercially promoted, it will be clearly labelled with a “Promoted” or “Sponsored” tag. Promoted pubs are not given artificially higher ratings, and editorial content remains independent of commercial arrangements.

We may participate in affiliate programmes (for example, linking to booking services or merchandise). In such cases, we may receive a commission if you make a purchase through one of our links. This does not affect the editorial independence of pub listings or ratings.

We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews, editorial coverage, or inflated scores.

Privacy & data (GDPR)

The Irish Pub is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988–2018 (Ireland). We collect and process personal data only as necessary to operate the platform.

Data we collect includes: account email address and display name (for registered users), ratings and reviews submitted by users, and contact form submissions. We also collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance monitoring.

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use personal data for targeted advertising.

Cookies — we use session cookies required for authentication and, if you consent, analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can manage cookie preferences at any time.

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@theirishpub.ie.

We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or availability of the information, products, services, or related graphics contained on the site for any purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Irish Pub and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with your use of this site, including (but not limited to) loss incurred as a result of relying on inaccurate opening hours, session listings, or pub closures.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other matter where exclusion or limitation is not permitted under Irish or EU law.
